Dua Lipa Pays Tribute to Sinéad O’Connor with “Nothing Compares 2 U” in Dublin

On June 27, at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium, Dua Lipa delivered a touching surprise for her Radical Optimism Tour audience: a performance of “Nothing Compares 2 U” in honor of Irish icon Sinéad O’Connor.

Before launching into the poignant cover, Lipa told the crowd, “Tonight, I am honored to perform a song by a late Irish legend,” inviting everyone to sing along if they knew the lyrics. Originally penned by Prince, the song was immortalized when O’Connor released her emotional rendition in 1990.

This homage marks the latest in Lipa’s ongoing tradition of performing local favorites during her tour stops. She previously paid tribute to regional artists—covering Jamiroquai in London, The Zutons in Liverpool, and even a Beatles classic in their hometown—mirroring the pattern she started during the Australia/New Zealand leg, where she performed songs by AC/DC, Lorde, Kylie Minogue and more.

Lipa will now carry her “Radical Optimism” spirit across the Atlantic, as the tour heads to North America in September.
