During the final evening of her “Cowboy Carter” tour stop in London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Beyoncé honored Paul McCartney and his daughter Stella with a heartfelt tribute. She performed her rendition of the Beatles’ 1968 song “Blackbird” (renamed “Blackbiird” on her Cowboy Carter album), and wore a Stella‑designed T‑shirt featuring two blackbirds. In an Instagram post, Beyoncé expressed deep gratitude:
“Thank you, Sir Paul McCartney, for writing one of the best songs ever made. Every time I sing it I feel so honored. And it is a full circle moment to wear your beautiful daughter’s design.”
Paul McCartney himself praised her version, calling it “magnificent” and saying it “reinforces the civil rights message that inspired me to write the song in the first place.” They also held a FaceTime call, during which McCartney told Beyoncé how proud he was of her rendition.
Beyoncé’s “Blackbiird” spotlights Black country artists Brittney Spencer, Reyna Roberts, Tanner Adell, and Tiera Kennedy, and even incorporates McCartney’s original acoustic guitar from the Beatles’ White Album. As a keepsake, the four women commemorated the collaboration with personalized blackbird tattoos by artist Hannah Matthews.
The London performances smashed venue records—selling over 275,000 tickets and grossing more than £45 million—making Beyoncé the top-performing artist in the stadium’s history. After London, her tour heads to Paris (June 19–22), then back to the U.S. with dates in Houston, Maryland, Atlanta, and wrapping up in Las Vegas on July 26.
